Wordpress tags affect search engine Rankings?

Tags were not prebuilt in wordpress earlier.But in the latest versions of wordpress the tagging options are inbuilt and we can easily add tags to any post.The main aim of tags is to provide the users an easy way to browse through the site.But these tags have an negative effect when it comes SEO,Yes they really affect your search engine rankings badly if you have too many tags in your wordpress blog.They get high consideration in search than the individual post pages and our post pages rank below the tags in google search.

check site:yoursite.com in google and you can find if tags outstand your posts.

We need our post pages to be highly ranked for us to get a good amount of visitors to our blog.But because of the tags,they outstand the posts and get indexed before the post pages and also provide a cause of duplicate content in our blog.Also we provide a chance for the google link juice to get diluted in our pages.

so whats the solution?

1.Dont add too many tags for your posts.

2.Add nofollow to the tags widgets and the tag archives.By this By sacrificing the indexing of tags,we get better visibility of the posts which will get us more visitors than tagging.This plugin will help you wordpress tweaks
