Do you think trackbacks/pingbacks affect your search rankings and pagerank?I think so!Let me explain it.
Very often you get trackbacks and pingbacks in your wordpress blog. This happens when you have written a post and it interests many people.People having blogs of similar content initializes a trackback or pingback towards your blog post by linking to it.
If you approve it then in your comments section there appears these trackbacks at the end of post with a link to that blog.
How it affects your blog?
1.If the blog that trackbacks to you is of low PageRank there is leakage of link juice to that site and actually you lose it.
2.If the blog that trackbacks to you is a spam, then search engines may consider your blog as spam.Especially if your blog is new.
3.Even if you have comments nofollow, google can recognise a link to that webpage.
These are some drawbacks of trackbacks and pingbacks.

Hi Aaslin, thanks for this article. I have been getting trackbacks to some of my blogs in the comments section and I am very unsure whether I should accept them or not. I know that some of the comments can take away some of your ranking when you are trying to get your blog ranked higher, but I did not know what to think about trackbacks. I feel as though it is a type of compliment about the article but do not want them if they will detract from my rankings. Is there a hard and fast rule regarding trackbacks on new blogs?
Thanks, Bruce
