How to upgrade/unlock iphone 3G with 2.2.1

Hi,all the iphone firmware update 2.2.1 contains baseband update and hence yellowsnow doesnt work on that.so if you accidentally update your iphone 3g to 2.2 to 2.2.1 you baseband also gets updated to 2.30.03.so the problem starts here as we cant downgrade it easily.now from the easy steps and explainations below you will know how to upgrade and unlock your iPhone 3G from Firmware 2.2 to Firmware 2.2.1 without upgrading your baseband.for that you have to use an firmare to update iphone from the iphone dev team pwnage tool.the use of this firmware is that it helps updating without updating the baseband.

now follow the steps below carefully and then you will be able to update iphone without updating the firmware.

• 1.download the firmware to update created by iphone dev team pwnage tool.iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Custom_Restore.ipsw.it also contains cydia and installer which we might need for unlocking.
• 2.now once the download is completed put your iphone in DFU mode.
• 3.attach the phone to pc/computer.
• 4.turn the iphone off.
• 5.hold power and home together for 10 seconds.
• 6.after 10 secs release power and continue holding home until the pc recognises as usb device.
• 7.now your restore will work
• 8.now in your apple iphone Launch iTunes and shift-click on the Restore button.now you browse to the custom restore 2.2.1 firmware you downloaded and the itunes will do the rest of the work for you. Once the upgrade is finished you need not to jailbreak again as it was already done.
• 9.now set your wireless network/internet settings to connect to softwares in cydia.now start cydia app.
• 10.click on manage tab from the bottom of the menu.now you will see manage,click on sources option.now you have to add the source to yellowsnow repo to utilize the soft unlock.
• 11.now select edit on the top right of the screen and then click left.in the url space type http://apt9.yellowsn0w.com/ and click add source and done and then select browser.
• 12.now in the browser click search and type “yellowsnow” and install it.restart your iphone and wait for atleast 30 secs idle.and now you can enjoy iphone with firmware 2.2.1 and baseband 02.28.00.
