How to solve error iphone is not recognized by itunes

We get the error iphone is not recognized by itunes both in windows an mac sometimes.this happens usually after upgrading or downgrading your iphone.This might be due to the apple mobile device service.AMDS should be restarted to solve this error.If you cannot do that then reinstalling the AMDS is the only way and is easy to do that.

To restart Apple mobile device service:
For windows xp:
1.close itunes
2.disconnect iphone
3.click windows start
4.open service menu
5.Now you have to select apple mobile device and stop it and then start it after few secs.

For vista:
4.in the start menu,select search and type “service” and select services and stop it and then enable it after few secs.

To reinstall AMDS:
remove the itunes from your computer and reinstall the latest version.

For mac:
1.in finder locate itunes in the application folder and move it to trash.
2.also move the itunes icon to trash.
3.Enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go
4.Now you have to locate the file applemobiledevice.kext and move it to trash.
5.select go and go to folder
6.find applemobiledevicesupport.pkg and move it trash.You may be prompted for admin password and give your admin pass.
7.empty the trash and restart,now install the latest version of itunes.
