Mac-os x has certain tedious processes involved in playing or burning media files.suppose you want to burn an avi movie to a dvd you have to entitle it separately like .srt and then you need to encode the movie and then mux the subtitles.this may be complicated and also time consuming.So,considering that a quicktime plugin has been released by perian.org. its name is perian and it adds native support for many video formats in mac osx.
some features of the perian quicktime plugin is given below,
