Search Rankings are very important for every website.The popularity of your website is determined only by the search engine giants google,yahoo and bing.There are other search engines but they are not as useful as these and can serve only less amount of visitors.I can list some of my learnings in search engine optimization for the past two years that can get you to the top of the search listings.But these tactics cannot be done in a single day and can be performed in a long run and very useful for any blogger expecting more traffic.
GETTING TOP SEARCH RANKINGS IN SEARCH ENGINES:
ORIGINAL CONTENT:
This is the first thing you need to concentrate.Posting copied contents will never get you to the top search rankings.If your content is unique and an user searches for it,definitely your website is going to be at the top of the search results.But being at the top in between competition is very importent.This first tip is to stay complied with search engine conditions.
CONTROL THE NUMBER OF LINKS:
Many websites have at present about 200 links in their homepage.If your website is in this case you dont get the required importance from the search engines.Their must be a reciprocal linking within your website.The number of links in the homepage of your website must not exceed a maximum of 100.Place the other links in another sub-page and in this way every links of your website get the same importance.
SHARE YOUR POSTS:
Share your posts to social bookmarking sites.This will help you bringing direct traffic as well as increase the trustworthiness of your website in search engines when analysing the amount of links to your website.Eventhough most social bookmarking sites have nofollow links to your post yet the increase in traffic to your website,your alexa ranking shows that your website is popular and “more importance should be provided”.
UPDATE DAILY:
For the search engines to be a friend of your blog,you should give something for the search bots everyday.When you provide fresh content everyday they always love to visit your blog and index your posts within minutes.When you show constant update for about a month,it is sure that you will be already in the top of the search rankings within the 10.
PROPER SEO HEADING:
The heading you provide for a post should be related to your content and exactly match the search engine query that the user may search for in google or yahoo.When your title matches the post,no doubt you will be at the top of the rankings.
PERMALINKS STRUCTURE:
Take care of your permalink structure.It should never include too many numbers like year,date and post numbers.The date in the search engines will be getting you top of the listings for the current month but will not considered in the next month.so take care for your post title to be in the permalinks to your post.
META TAGS AND DESCRIPTION:
Provide meta tags and description for your blog.There are people who claim meta tags have no effect in google.But in my blogs i have found google indexing the meta title,tags and description that i provided for every posts.They also listed my posts in top for the queries related to tags in my meta content.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR IMAGES:
Images can boost up your search traffic and rankings.Be sure to add some images to every post and “name the image related to your post” and don’t forget to provide the alt tags and caption for the image.This indicate the search spiders that the content is unique and different from other websites.
TRY VIDEOS FOR YOUR POSTS:
Have you ever tried videos for your posts.Create an video more helpful to the post and for tutorials and upload it in various video sharing sites like youtube and leave the link to your website in description of the video and inside the video if required.For every query google tries to show atleast two video results.If there is no videos related to your topic you are going to be at the top.Even if the visitor visits the video he will surely come to your website for more.
GUEST POST AND COMMENTS:
Go for guest post in high traffic and pagerank websites.This could give you direct traffic as well as backlinks.Your website will get the exposure very soon.Try commenting in high PR sites with dofollow and it will boost up your pagerank.The number of backlinks you have is equal to the “top rank you are”.
PAGE LOADING:
Take care of your page loading time.Pages that load extremely fast are ahead of high PR sites in the search results.So optimize your website and your images so that it loads quickly .Dont place too many javascripts in you blog/website.
TAKE CARE WHEN LINKING TO OTHERS:
When linking to other website analyse the website or blog clearly if it is worth the link.Providing links to porn,adult,poor content websites will drag you down the search rankings.
