Serial number or service tag number of computer is very important and may be required often. Whenever you call for your computer service the first word they may ask you is your serial number or service tag number. But unlike laptop
it is not so easy to find the serial number. A laptop you just need to turn over and you can find your service tag number. For desktop it is placed in an faraway position which you can find by looking at the below picture.but for seeing your service tag number in this method you will need to go under your computer table, pull your CPU forward and then find it.
Will it be convenient if you can find your computer serial number just by typing and command prompt? yes, you can do it by the below method.
First open the command prompt an enter this command
wmic bios get serialnumber
You will get your serial number once you enter the above command, there is also another command which you can use.
wmic csproduct get name, identifyingnumber
Alternatively your system model number can be found by heading to All programs>accessories> System tools
this command will work on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Vista.
