hi,do you own an iphone? 3g or older version?thats fine.but do you know the version of your iphones bootloader.the bootloader is very much essential for installing and checking if an iphone application is compatible with your version of iphone.you can find that by using BBupdater extreme and a windows pc.bootloader is very important for loading the main firmware of the iphone.PwnageTool and WinPwn allow control over the main OS bootloader, while BootNeuter allows control over the Baseband Bootloader.iPhone 3G 2.2.1 firmware update which was relased had an baseband update and it was not compatible with the most used iphone app yellow snow.now there has been a tool to Downgrade your iPhone Baseband from 02.30.03 to 02.28.0 not for bootloader 5.8.
how to use BBupdater extreme in iphone:
first you should have mobile terminal which you can find in the support terminal section of cydia and openssh.
1.download winScp and install it.
2.check the iphones ip wifi ip address and note it.you can do this in the settings-wifi-tap blue arrow-ip address
3.now after you have done that launch winSCP and enter the ip you noted,username root and password alpine.uncheck the allow scp fallback link in it.select yes if connection attempt is displayed.winscp gui will now appear in the screen.you can see both local pc directory and iphone dir in that.now from that screen Browse to /usr/bin directory on iPhone if you already have that. or else make one by Right Click -> New or press F7 in the /usr directory
4.now in that gui,look for the bbupdater,drag it and drop it into the iphones usr/bin dirctry.dont forget to set permissions to 755.
5.now exit winSCP.
6.launch putty.exe,if you dont have already the download link is at the end of the post.
7.it will ask for ip address and host ip name.click yes and now you will see the first connection attempt.
8.now enter “root” as login prompt and “alpine” as password of it and now you will be able to see a hash # symbol.
9.type the below in the putty window lauched,
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
10.after that type
bbupdater –v
11.now you will see a message in the screen and note down the bootloader version of your iphone
Resetting target…
pinging the baseband…
issuing +xgendata…
firmware: DEV_ICE_MODEM_04.01.13_G
eep version: EEP_VERSION:207
eep revision: EEP_REVISION:8
bootloader: BOOTLOADER_VERSION:3.9_M3S2
12. Finally type: (to enable Commcenter again)
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
13. switch off your iphone and then on.thats it!
