Apple iphones are unlocked or jailbroken so that they can be used with all networks.But it is not easy to jailbreak all versions of iphone.Iphone 3G 3GS BOOTROOM has currently no jailbreaking options available.It is tested with ultrasn0w,redsn0w and pwnage tool.So if you update an unblocked iphone to this version your iphone will be blocked again and there is no use in having it locked again.Now here is a tool which helps you check if an iphone can be jailbroken or unlocked before trying any of the unlocking methods.

The application is f0recast which gives you the chance to find if an iphone can be unlocked even before following the procedures to unlock.It works with both windows and max osx.In windows you need .Net framework 2.0 or higher and itunes 9.0 to be installed.In mac you need only itunes 9.0 to be installed.

F0recast will also let you know the bootloaders version,and even suggests you to downgrade to a particular version to get your device unlocked.

How to unlock or jailbreak iphone 2g to os 3.0 using redsn0w

In this tutorial you will learn how to jailbreak iphone 2G to os 3.0 using redsn0w in windows or mac.Iphone 2G doesnt have mms and tethering in it while iphone O.S 3.0 has it all.Hence most of us like O.S 3.0.But iphone 2G do not have this functions even when it runs 3.0.Before you start jailbreaking your iphone make sure you have upgraded to itunes 8.2.

Downloads needed for this are given at the end of the post.
You should read

First download all the needed files before unlock or jailbreaking your iphone.We don’t need to update the baseband in iphone 2G.So have a free play.Before starting update your iphone to OS 3.0.

1.Create a folder in your desktop on any name. for eg “sensehow”.Now paste all the files you have downloaded previously into that folder sensehow.
2.Now connect your iphone to the pc and launch redsn0w from “sensehow” folder.Now in the window that opens click browse to navigate to the “sensehow”folder on your pc’s desktop and select the 3.0 firmware ipsw.

3.Next you have to click the open button to continue.

4.In the next screen you will have two options.One is to unlock and the other is to jailbreak.If you want to unlock and jailbreak then select both options or else select install cydia for jailbreak and unlock for only unlocking.

5.Note:If you have not selected unlock option skip to the next step.If you have selected then bootloader window will appear.Now you have to select the bootloader files.Click the browse option in bootloader screen and select 3.9 bootloader from “sensehow” folder in your desktop.Similarly choose 4.6 for the other.Then click the blue arrow to continue.

6.Now switch off your iphone without plugging out from the usb port.After you do that,click next to proceed.The next is to put your iphone to DFU mode.

7.To enable DFU mode hold the power button for about 3 secs and then hold both home and power button for about 10 secs,then release the power button but continue holding the home button until your iphone is in DFU mode.

8.Once you have put your iphone in DFU mode you will see the following screen or else you will be prompted to step 6

9.Within 5-6 minutes your iphone 2g os 3.0 will be jailbreaked and unlocked.

How to put an iphone to Recovery mode and DFU mode

Recovery mode and dfu mode differs in its functions.Recovery mode uses iboot during upgrading and restoring your iphone but DFU mode do not undergo iboot so that it is able to downgrade the current firmware running on your version.So firmware downgrading can be done only in DFU mode and not in recovery mode.So,if you want to upgrade your firmware version you simply need to put your iphone in recovery mode and itunes will perform it for you.But if you want to downgrade your iphone firmware then DFU is the only solution.

Recovery mode:
Doesnt allow downgrade of firmware unless it is pwned since it loads iboot.

DFU mode:
The device in dfu mode doesn’t load iboot and hence can be downgraded to lower firmware versions.The screen during DFU appears black like switched off.No iboot and also os is not loaded.Hence it is easy to downgrade or upgrade using pwnage tool.

How to enable recovery mode in iphone:

Switch off the iphone and disconnect the cables if connected.
Press and hold the home button.
During holding the home button connect it to a computer with a cable or dock.
You will see a “connect to itunes”screen and you are now in recovery mode.

How to exit from recovery mode:
To escape from recovery mode and power off the phone hold the power and home buttons for about 5-10 seconds.

How to enable DFU mode in Iphone:

First connect your iphone to your pc.
Now you have to turn off your iphone.
Then hold power and home button together for about 10 seconds.
Then release the power button but continue holding the home button until your pc beeps that an “usb device is recognised”.

Now,within few seconds itunes will detect you iphone.
Note that if you have a restore logo in screen you are in recovery mode and not DFU.For DFU only black screen appears.

How to force iphone O.S 3.0 TO quit restart and reset

Sometimes some of the apps used in iphone o.s 3.0 might consume lot of memory and needed to quited.But it is different that we quit iphone in 2.0 when it is for O.S 3.0.In iphone O.S 2.0 any app can be quit by pressing and holding the home button for 10 seconds.Force quitting can be useful also to quit background apps like safari and mail especially when starting another game or application.

HOW TO FORCE QUIT AN APP IN IPHONE 3.0:

Press and hold the sleep/wake button in your iphone until you get the “slide to power off” screen.Now press and hold the home button until the application quits or exits.

HOW TO RESET IPHONE 3.0:

Press the sleep/wake button and home button and hold it at the same time for about 10 sec untils you view the apple screen.

HOW TO RESTART IPHONE:

Press and hold the sleep button.You will get an red slider “to turn off”.Make it slide and it will be off.To restart hold the wake button until the apple screen glows.
